Density Estimators for Truncated Dependent Data
In some long term studies, a series of dependent and possibly truncated lifetime data may be observed. Suppose that the lifetimes have a common continuous distribution function F. A popular stochastic measure of the distance between the density function f of the lifetimes and its kernel estimate fn is the integrated square error (ISE). In this paper, we derive a central limit theorem for t...
متن کاملNonlinear Wavelet Density Estimation for Truncated and Dependent Observations
In this paper, we provide an asymptotic expression for mean integrated squared error (MISE) of nonlinear wavelet density estimator for a truncation model. It is assumed that the lifetime observations form a stationary α-mixing sequence. Unlike for kernel estimator, the MISE expression of the nonlinear wavelet estimator is not affected by the presence of discontinuities in the curves. Also, we e...
متن کاملFull and conditional likelihood approaches for hazard change-point estimation with truncated and censored data
Hazard function plays an important role in reliability and survival analysis. In some real life applications, abrupt changes in the hazard function may be observed and it is of interest to detect the location and the size of the change. Hazard models with a changepoint are considered when the observations are subject to random left truncation and right censoring. For a piecewise constant hazard...
متن کاملRelative density estimation with censored data
Well described tools for comparing two populations via their cumulative distribution functions F and F0 are the so-called relative distribution R (t) = F { F−1 0 (t) } and the corresponding relative density (or grade density) r (t). The authors propose a kerneltype estimator for the relative density r (t) in the situation where independent samples of right-censored observations are available fr...
متن کاملQuantile Estimation for Left Truncated and Right Censored Data
In this paper we study the estimation of a quantile function based on left truncated and right censored data by the kernel smoothing method. Asymptotic normality and a Berry-Esseen type bound for the kernel quantile estimator are derived. Monte Carlo studies are conducted to compare the proposed estimator with the PL-quantile estimator.
